There something ancient appearance
High Resolution JPEG Picture of There is something ancient about the appearance of cormorants in this coathanger pose, possibly because they have been used as the model for (Archeopteryx), reputedly the very first bird. There is a group of cormorants based in south London that goes around raiding local ponds (or fishing, they might call it). Up to thirteen have been seen together at the small ponds on Wandsworth Common, though groups of three to five are more usual. This youngster was on a lone raid.
