Castle geyser named 1870
High Resolution JPEG Picture of Castle Geyser was named in 1870 by the Washburn-Langford-Doane Expedition due to its striking resemblance to the ruins of a castle. It has one of the oldest and largest sinter cones in Yellowstone, indicating that it has been active for thousands of years.
