Smaller native plants southern
High Resolution JPEG Picture of Smaller native plants of the Southern Mojave Desert are easily overlooked until they display their brilliant flowers. One competitor who owns such attributes is a spiny organism classified by botany as Coryphantha Alversonii. Commonly referred to as Cushion Foxtail Cactus, their radiant blossoms in shades of pink, purple and white with a yellow center can be witnessed in proximity to the Skull Rock exhibit of Joshua Tree National Park. Although the Reserve is protected by law, much of the worlds habitat is not, and are being destroyed, replaced with modern development. Unless we all step up our conservation efforts, future generations face an age of disastrous ecological recession.
