Located on the southwestern side of the Monti della Marsica, it originates from a system of foothills that derive from the karst catchment area of the upper Sangro valley in Abruzzo. The lake basin has a narrow and elongated shape leaning against the hills that delimit the north-east shore. And it is precisely from the mountains of the Abruzzo oarco that the lake of Posta Fibreno or della Posta finds its origins. In fact, part of the waters that fall in the form of snow or rain on those mountains are the same ones that after a long journey, mostly in underground strata, see the light again in the numerous springs that swarm along the shores of the lake, feeding it with about 6 m3 of water per second. An origin, the karst one, which allows the water to maintain an almost constant temperature, approximately 10-11 ° C, throughout the year. [1279594565] stock photo
